World Ballet Day 5 October 2017

October 05, 2017

World Ballet Day is an annual celebration of ballet held since 2014 in the first week of October. It is a collaboration between major ballet companies around the world, which stream live video of their behind-the-scenes preparations in their respective time zones.

A celebration of dance, World Ballet Day is an opportunity for audiences to see what it takes to be one of the world’s top companies, providing viewers around the world an inside look at the athleticism and dedication required for a life in ballet. Viewers will be exposed to a variety of experiences from technique classes and rehearsals to backstage preparations.

The Australian Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, The Royal Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada and San Francisco Ballet will partner for the fourth year in a row to celebrate classical dance and provide viewers around the world with an exclusive look behind the scenes at what life is like at the world's top ballet companies.

The World Ballet Day also highlights all the benefits of doing ballet: Ballet teaches work ethic, perseverance, dedication, motivation, stamina, flexibility, and strength. Dancers work hard in ballet but the results are worth it.

Ballet helps dancers grow – it gives students what they need to spread their wings and fly in all dance classes.
